About

I am a mum of two boys who both have barriers to learning/SENDs.

As well as the blog, I have written and published my first book, available on Amazon here, which has lots of the info in the blog, plus extra bits, and is the book we needed to read when our children were younger.

I am a qualified teacher, and have taught a wide range of students from 13 to 60+ for the last 19 years. My main subject is animal science, and I am an outside person who likes to take students out of the classroom and let them ‘do’.

From both parent and teacher perspectives, I feel that so many children miss out on so much that education has to offer.  As a parent, I find it frustrating to see my children climbing mountains every day, and as a teacher I find it frustrating that I can’t always do what is needed to make every child achieve their potential.

The idea for the blog is that there are lots of square pegs out there, me included, who don’t ‘fit’ what society decides is normal. So we can share opinions, review books and articles, and realise that we’re not the only ones fighting the battles or climbing a very steep hill.

Please share, comment or message me with ideas for future posts!! Thank you!!
